Readmon
Readmon is an e-book reader for iPhone, iPad and Android that lets you read your own books and listen to them in an AI voice, entirely on your device.
Google
About Readmon
Readmon is an e-book reader for iPhone, iPad and Android that lets you read your own books and listen to them in an AI voice. It handles EPUB, TXT, PDF and comic archives in one library, and you can switch between reading and listening without losing your place — useful while driving, commuting, or any time looking at a screen isn't practical.
Speech synthesis runs entirely on the device: narration never sends the text of your books to a server, and it works in airplane mode. The one exception is the optional Character Voices feature, which the reader turns on with their own API key. Books can come from the device itself, from iCloud Drive on iPhone or iPad, or from a remote library the reader connects on their own — Calibre-Web, OPDS, WebDAV, Dropbox or OneDrive.
Readmon uses a Google account only for optional reading-record
sync, which is off by default. When a reader connects their own Google
account, Readmon stores their reading records in the app's own storage
space inside that account's Google Drive and reads them back on the reader's
other devices. It requests a single permission,
drive.appdata: it works only with files inside that space and
cannot read or change any other file in the reader's Drive.
The records hold reading positions, bookmarks, highlights and reviews, together with the titles and authors of the reader's works and passages quoted from books, such as the sentences the reader highlighted. Book files themselves are never uploaded. To show which account is connected, Readmon reads that account's email address and display name and keeps them on the device. All requests go directly from the reader's device to Google; they do not pass through any server of the developer's, and the developer cannot see this data. Details are in section 6-1 of the privacy policy.
